Kelly bar is a component of rotary drilling rig which is used when the rig is being used in Kelly drilling configuration. Kelly bars main purpose is to transfer the torque of the rotary drive and crowd pressure of the crown system to the drilling tool. Normally Kelly bars made of 2 to 5 tubular sections with drive keys and lock recesses on each section.
